Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist? I grew up in Romania, a communist country at the time. I was born and schooled there. There wasn't much we could watch on TV back then but I remember Richard Clayderman and fell in love his piano songs. So, I told my mother one day I'd love to learn how to play the piano. At age of 6 I was admitted into music school and so it begins. Piano was the creative outlet in my early childhood and I would often write songs and play them to my friends. After the fall of Communism in 1989 we finally got access to various music channels on TV like MTV, VH1 and this is how I discovered Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera and fell in love with their music. I started singing covers of their songs and thinking more and more that I would love to become a singer one day. As there were not too many opportunities in the music business for me at that time, I continued with my education and received my bachelor degree at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in Romania. Time has a way of turning things around and a few years later, in 2010, I moved out to Los Angeles and started a bran new life in the International Capital of Music, me and my big dream. I knew nobody here but God, and that was enough. I started recording a few covers of Mariah, Whitney, Christina, Leona Lewis and uploaded them on my old youtube channel. That brought me to the collaboration in 2012 with german producers Berman Brothers and later on other collabs with CPR Production in 2014 and Rob Hoffman in 2016.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips? This is an interesting question for me since I'm a fairly new to the business my self, but I believe today is easier than ever to get exposure and reach out to a lot of possible fans through media outlets. I would recommend them to pay attention to all media and make a presence there, making sure they have a professional band website where they can collect email addresses from their fans and keep in touch with them about any future shows, live events or new music/video releases. There are a lot of venues that look up artists/bands online and you might get invited to play there. Also, it's important to socialize, make friends and connect with new people in the business. They should connect with local venues in their city where they can gig in order to build up an audience.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that? Sure. I'm not perfect. When it does happen I continue to sing as if nothing "bad" happened and I'm sure most of the time nobody in the audience noticed.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about? I do not tour currently, but I'm getting ready for that day. Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now? I am working with an Avalon 737SP at the moment. I am planning on getting a new mic.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you? I believe the best promotional tool right now is social media. I prefer using Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. I am fairly new to Instagram but I think it's a great tool as well. So basically, any kind of social media really.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? I would love to perform with Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson or Mariah Carey at any venue.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about? I have been working on this new project for a while now. We finished recording and I am just waiting for the music video to be ready so we can release it.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing? I have a bachelor degree so, given that I'd probably be a medical doctor, most likely a surgeon.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so? I like to take one step at a time and enjoy the journey. I will be releasing my first video ever with the bran new single coming soon. I will be performing at several venues, probably music festivals, so if you hear my name out near you, don't be a stranger. Come say Hello!
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs? A big shout out to my family and friends for their constant support! Thank you! I love you all so much!
